Volunteering with IDALA

As a volunteer, you will be expected to contribute to the work of a board committee. You will also be encouraged to attend IDALA board meetings (one per quarter) and branch events (a fall fundraising event and a spring conference). After gaining some experience with the board, volunteers can apply to become full, voting board members.

Our mission and board structure

It is the mission of the IDALA to raise awareness and understanding of dyslexia, to promote effective practices, and to support individuals with dyslexia, their families and professionals in the field. Our goal is to empower individuals with dyslexia to reach their potential as creative and contributing members of the community. The IDALA serves Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Ventura, and Kern Counties.

We are a working board that seeks to enact this mission through programming across a variety of board committees. Our board is organized in the following way:
